Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Baptista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Demian Baptista!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baptista throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horrible takedown by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Baptista which made him look bad.
Baptista gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Diaz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Diaz.

Baptista is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Diaz postures up.
Diaz stays in close to Baptista's body and controls the position.
Diaz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Baptista keeps working.

Baptista seems a little lost for a moment, as Diaz dominates the positioning.
Baptista is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Diaz off and has taken his back!
Baptista is trying to stick to Diaz's back but Diaz is turning into Baptista. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Baptista's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Diaz.

Baptista had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Diaz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Baptista Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Diaz's back instead.

Baptista is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Diaz is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Baptista gets his way!
Diaz is trying to get back to his feet but Baptista has full control of the position and if anything, Diaz has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Baptista has his opponent's back but Diaz is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Baptista.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baptista is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Diaz is surviving well by controlling Baptista's body position as best he can.

Baptista has control of Diaz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Diaz regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Baptista is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Diaz has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Diaz wants to hold on but Baptista pushes him away.

Baptista is working for a guillotine from mount but Diaz frees his head quite easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A nice elbow there by Baptista.

The referee warns Diaz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Baptista is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Diaz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Diaz!
Baptista wants to hit a switch here but Diaz passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Baptista there!

I would just about give that final round to Demian Baptista.
Well Baptista has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
