PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Afamefuna Yobachukwu Yobachukwu (ranked 4034 p4p, 4133 weight class) and Jean Michel Plutarque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Afamefuna Yobachukwu Yobachukwu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Michel Plutarque!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plutarque tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Yobachukwu circles away from the clinch attempt

and Yobachukwu decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Plutarque's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Yobachukwu has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Plutarque working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yobachukwu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yobachukwu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Plutarque wants to stand but Yobachukwu is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Plutarque working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yobachukwu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yobachukwu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Plutarque escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yobachukwu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Yobachukwu seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Yobachukwu looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Yobachukwu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Yobachukwu reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Yobachukwu taps out! Nice BJJ there by Plutarque!
