Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ferdinand Upsala (ranked 4261 p4p, 3310 weight class) and Tater Salad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salad has chosen When Potato Salad Attacks!! as his entrance music. Tater Salad is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ferdinand Upsala! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tater Salad! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Upsala closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salad circles away. Upsala moves into range and clinches up with Salad. Upsala lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Salad backwards. Salad gets a trip takedown into half guard. Upsala is looking to improve his position.
Upsala is refusing to be controlled, as Salad sits in half guard. Salad is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Salad landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Salad working the head and body with strikes. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Salad lands a nice short elbow. Salad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Upsala keeps working. Upsala trying to hold on to Salad's head to control him but Salad postures up.
Upsala gets full guard. Salad scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Salad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Upsala. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Upsala manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Salad manages to get himself to full guard.
Upsala trying to control but Salad is working from the bottom. Upsala wants to pass the guard but Salad is keeping the position. Upsala being controlled here momentarily. Upsala slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Upsala working away. Salad is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Upsala's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Upsala wants to lay and pray for a moment but Salad keeps working. Salad wants to improve his position but Upsala is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Upsala uses his free foot to push down on Salad's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Salad. Salad holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Upsala tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Salad defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Upsala. Upsala is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Salad is surviving well by controlling Upsala's body position as best he can. Salad is squirming around, avoiding Upsala's attempts to control the action. Salad looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Salad is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Upsala is looking to stand but Salad has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Upsala moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Salad has worked his arm free - good work by Salad!
Salad is looking for a sweep. Upsala tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Upsala has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Upsala advances to full mount. Salad tries to lock up and control but Upsala gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Upsala misses with a head shot. Upsala working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Upsala trying to control but Salad is having none of it. Salad is looking to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Upsala wants to control the pace but Salad is squirming around nicely. Upsala has hold of Salad's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Salad manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Upsala thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Salad is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Upsala swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Salad is now in Upsala's guard. A big mistake from Upsala there, giving up the dominant position! Upsala manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Salad manages to get himself to full guard.
Upsala controls the pace of the fight for a moment. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ferdinand Upsala dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Upsala fails with a takedown attempt. Upsala misses with a takedown and Salad counters with a single leg into guard. Upsala didn't expect that. Upsala working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Salad has passed into half guard!
Salad working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Salad working the head and body with strikes. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Salad lands a nice short elbow. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Salad connects with a nice short shot to Upsala's temple. Salad landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Salad is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Upsala is hurt! He's hurt bad - Salad fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Upsala from any more punishment! Congratulations to Salad! Great finish!
