Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Cortes (ranked 24681 p4p, 4078 weight class) and Roman Doom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Roman Doom enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Doom.
Cortes seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Cortes has taken the fight to the clinch.

Cortes jumps guard and drags Doom to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Doom seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Doom remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cortes can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Doom tries to advance to mount but Cortes denies him.
Cortes avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Doom.

Doom is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Cortes knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Cortes for a finish.
