Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Rua!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua stuffs the takedown.
Jose Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jorge fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rua shoots and misses
and Jorge counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jorge is in close to Rua's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jorge decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rua, up you get!
Rua fails with an attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Rua, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rua tries a head kick but it misses.
Jorge shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winter Jorge. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jorge has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rua!
Jorge lands a big shot there that rocks Rua but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Rua is squirming around, avoiding Jorge's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rua gets back to half guard.
Rua flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rua missing with punches from the bottom.
Jorge is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rua is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Winter Jorge!
