PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dillon Hardman (ranked 3883 p4p, 22576 weight class) and Jason Laszlo (ranked 435 p4p, 572 weight class). Hardman comes to the cage accompanied by Hang ‘Em High. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dillon Hardman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Laszlo!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardman looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hardman misses with a body kick.
And Laszlo tries to counter it with a takedown but Hardman pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Laszlo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Laszlo moves out of range as Hardman strikes.

and Laszlo counters with a takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Laszlo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hardman has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Hardman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Laszlo is aware though and is defending well.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Laszlo wants to control from the top but Hardman keeps moving.

Hardman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Laszlo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Laszlo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hardman defends it well.

Laszlo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Laszlo is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hardman is defending well though. Laszlo let's go of the attempt for now.
What can Hardman do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Well, with Laszlo on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hardman is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Hardman manages to reverse the position and now he's in Laszlo's guard. Nice work there by Hardman.

Laszlo throws an elbow but Hardman slips to the side and avoids it well.

Laszlo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hardman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Laszlo but great work by Hardman.
Laszlo has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Hardman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Laszlo is pushing Hardman's head away, looking to escape. Hardman manages to hold on to the position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hardman has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Laszlo!

Hardman is really struggling to control Laszlo but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Hardman feints and then cracks Laszlo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Laszlo down.

and Laszlo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hardman lands a nice shot that snaps Laszlo's head back.

It looks like Jason Laszlo has been cut.
Hardman tries to land a front kick but Laszlo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hardman throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hardman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Laszlo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Laszlo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hardman is trying to defend but Laszlo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Laszlo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Laszlo wants to free his trapped foot but Hardman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Laszlo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Laszlo is continuing to stall.
