And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 23 losses; Sirus Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Columbo Gatti.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

OBrien seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hughes for as long as he can get away with.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Hughes wants to escape the position.

Hughes manages to reverse the position and now he's in OBrien's guard. Nice work there by Hughes.

Hughes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. OBrien gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hughes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. OBrien is aware though and is defending well.
OBrien seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OBrien passes Hughes's left leg - he's now in half guard.

OBrien has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hughes has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

OBrien seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now OBrien is on top in guard.

OBrien is pushing down on Hughes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hughes is fighting to maintain full guard but OBrien has managed to sneak the leg through.
