This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Kody Dangerfield! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Billy Danner! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Danner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dangerfield swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dangerfield looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Danner! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Dangerfield (4) vs (0) Danner Danner is not content to let Dangerfield control the position. Dangerfield is really struggling to control Danner but he's trying to hold on to the position. Dangerfield advances nicely into full mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Dangerfield (6) vs (0) Danner Danner is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dangerfield wants to control the pace but Danner is squirming around nicely. Danner is looking to improve his position but Dangerfield isn't that keen on the idea. Danner tries to hold on but Dangerfield postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Dangerfield has control of Danner's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Danner regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Danner is trying desperately to improve position. Dangerfield jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Danner manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Danner is desperately trying to improve his position but Dangerfield has a good base and remains in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dangerfield jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Danner manages to avoid the submission attempt. Danner prevents Dangerfield from moving into mount. Dangerfield is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Danner has escaped the position, nice work there. Dangerfield is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Danner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Danner is trying to escape the position but Dangerfield is controlling the position. Danner tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dangerfield wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Dangerfield definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dangerfield wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Danner, who protects the arm well. Dangerfield is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Danner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Dangerfield is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Danner will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Dangerfield looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Dangerfield tries to move to mount but Danner blocks the move with his legs. Dangerfield thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Dangerfield is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Danner is trying to escape and Dangerfield transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Danner is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dangerfield! Very nice indeed!
