Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Cotilla (ranked 1052 p4p, 1061 weight class) and Vadius Highwind (ranked 160 p4p, 163 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Cotilla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vadius Highwind! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Highwind swings widly with a right hand
and Cotilla makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Vadius Highwind seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Highwind throws a hook but Cotilla blocks it. Cotilla throws a quick counter kick to the body but Highwind avoids it. Highwind swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cotilla takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Alexander Cotilla has been cut. Highwind fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Cotilla wants to clinch up but Highwind keeps it at a distance. Highwind misses with a left hand and Cotilla counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Highwind misses with a hook. Cotilla appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Highwind throws a lazy uppercut
and Highwind takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Highwind misses with a double jab
and Cotilla counters with a three punch combo that has Highwind backing up. Highwind nods at Cotilla to acknowledge the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Cotilla. Highwind throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Cotilla to counter with a crisp jab. We've been informed that Highwind has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Cotilla gets in close and instigates a clinch. Cotilla escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Highwind misses with a combination
and Cotilla counters with a slapping leg kick. Cotilla throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cotilla moves out of range as Highwind strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Highwind looks to land a combination but Cotilla avoids it well. It looked like Cotilla was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Highwind. Highwind misses with a right hand and Cotilla connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cotilla lands a jab to the nose. Highwind throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cotilla. Whack! Cotilla lands a heavy head kick that drops Highwind. The ref tackles Cotilla to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Highwind was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Alexander Cotilla! During a confident post fight interview, Alexander Cotilla thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
