Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Carter (ranked 2898 p4p, 3362 weight class) and Sebastiao Dias (ranked 326 p4p, 373 weight class). Sam Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sebastiao Dias! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dias smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
It looks like Sam Carter has been cut. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dias has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Carter throws a body kick that misses and Dias counters with a nice uppercut. Dias throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Dias throws a jab when Carter was well out of range. Dias lands a jab to the nose. Dias misses with a body shot.
We've been told by Carter's head coaches at Tappelukerho that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Carter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dias manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Dias looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Carter passes into half guard.
Dias is looking to improve his position.
Carter drops an elbow to the side of Dias's head. Dias trying to hold on to Carter's head to control him but Carter postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Dias is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Carter scores with a couple of nice shots. Dias moves into full guard.
Carter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dias has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Dias's legs - danger averted. Dias is looking for a triangle but Carter pushes his legs off easily.
Dias looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Dias has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Dias has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though. Dias is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carter defends well. Carter stands up over Dias, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Carter is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter distracts Dias with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Carter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Carter connects with a couple of short punches. Carter working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dias's head.
Dias is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter loads up on a big left hand. Dias felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Carter looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Dias can't hide his disappointment, as Carter celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Carter!
