Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Thunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Thunders! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Thunders. Thunders fails with a takedown attempt. Thunders shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thunders looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Thunders is defending well. Smith tries to advance position but instead Thunders slips a leg back in to half guard. Thunders looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Thunders tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thunders is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard. Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thunders. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Thunders is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Smith is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Smith wants to control but Thunders is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Smith ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Smith rushes Thunders and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Thunders is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Smith looks gassed! Smith prevents Thunders from improving his position. Smith stalling away here and it's allowed Thunders to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Smith wants to get up but he can't break Thunders's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Thunders working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Thunders is tightening it up a little... Smith has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Smith reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Smith taps out! nice BJJ there by Thunders!
