Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Quigley (ranked 409 p4p, 632 weight class) and Lucas Barbosa (ranked 54 p4p, 105 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Quigley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 20 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucas Barbosa! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quigley throws out a powerful jab.
It looks like Lucas Barbosa has been cut. Quigley tests Barbosa's chin there with a solid looking shot. Quigley misses the jab. Barbosa blocks a jab. Barbosa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Barbosa smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Quigley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Quigley wants it to stay on the feet. Quigley is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Quigley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Barbosa. Quigley misses with a lunging right hand
and Barbosa counters with a takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barbosa is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Quigley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Barbosa is looking to take a break and control but Quigley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barbosa swings around for an armbar but Quigley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Barbosa's guard. Barbosa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barbosa tries to land a sweep but no joy. Barbosa working for a triangle but Quigley defends it easily.
Quigley trying to control but Barbosa is working from the bottom. Barbosa is trying to keep Quigley in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barbosa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Quigley is aware though and is defending well. Barbosa looking for a sweep. Not yet Barbosa, not yet. Barbosa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Quigley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Quigley wanted to stand there but Barbosa had control of the position. Barbosa working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Barbosa holds on and takes a little breather. Quigley is looking to stand up but Barbosa won't let him. Quigley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Barbosa controlling the position. Quigley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barbosa on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbosa wants to sweep but no luck. Quigley pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barbosa is keeping the position for now. Quigley postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Barbosa fails with the takedown. Barbosa scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Barbosa has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Barbosa controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barbosa goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Quigley turns into him and now he's in Barbosa's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Matthew Quigley will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Lucas Barbosa's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Barbosa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Barbosa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Barbosa wants to sweep here but Quigley controlling him for the moment. Quigley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Quigley tries to stand but Barbosa is controlling from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Quigley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barbosa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Quigley has managed to get both his arms back between Barbosa's legs - danger averted. Quigley postures up.
Barbosa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Barbosa keeping moving, preventing Quigley from controlling successfully. We've been hearing good reports from Quigley's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Barbosa has a closed guard, preventing Quigley from standing up. Quigley not doing a lot at the moment. Barbosa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Quigley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Quigley preventing the sweep. Lucas Barbosa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Lucas Barbosa's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round! Barbosa ducks right into an uppercut from Quigley. Quigley ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barbosa moves away. Barbosa misses with a looping left. Barbosa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Quigley. Barbosa throws a shot from downtown. Quigley moves away and avoids it. Barbosa gets a takedown into half guard. Quigley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barbosa is working away from the top position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbosa is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Quigley still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Quigley has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Barbosa trying to control the position from guard on top but Quigley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Barbosa is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Barbosa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Quigley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Barbosa has Quigley in his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Barbosa looking for a sweep. Not yet Barbosa, not yet. Barbosa controls Quigley momentarily but Quigley frees himself. Barbosa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quigley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Quigley is looking to stand up but Barbosa won't let him. Barbosa looking for a sweep. Not yet Barbosa, not yet.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matthew Quigley. I think Quigley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
