This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 13 losses; Dragon Li Chai! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 2 losses; Ishmael Egyptian!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Egyptian clinches up against the cage.
Chai is trying to drag Egyptian to the mat but Egyptian just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Egyptian tries for a takedown. No joy.

Egyptian is fighting off a takedown attempt but Chai is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Egyptian to the mat. Egyptian regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

We've been hearing good reports from Chai's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Egyptian has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Infamous Duranto Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Chai is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Egyptian defends well.

Chai working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Egyptian doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Egyptian manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chai throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Egyptian escapes and throws Chai's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Egyptian tries to control but Chai wriggling away.

Chai is not content to let Egyptian control the position.

Egyptian looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Egyptian uses his free foot to push down on Chai's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Chai.

I really don't envy Chai right now.

Egyptian is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Egyptian is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
