This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 11 losses; Joe Dirt! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Banner looking to score a takedown here. Dirt is defending well but Banner drives through and ends up in Dirt's guard. Banner controlling from the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dirt controls Banner momentarily but Banner frees himself. Banner passes Dirt's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Banner is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dirt has managed to free his arm - good work. Banner trying to pass the guard but Dirt defending well. Banner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Dirt tries to get to full guard but Banner has control of the leg. Banner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Dirt actively working from the bottom here. Banner works his foot free and advances to mount. That's six minutes gone in the round. Banner looking to control but Dirt is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Banner controlling his opponent. Banner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Banner prevents Dirt from getting the reversal. Banner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Dirt regains half guard. Banner is pressing down on Dirt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dirt is holding on for now. Banner content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Banner is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Banner uses his free foot to push down on Dirt's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dirt. Score +3 for passing guard: Banner (15) vs (4) Dirt Banner working for a guillotine from mount but Dirt is in no mood to give up. Dirt is trying to escape the mount but Banner keeps good control and instead manages to take Dirt's back.

Dirt knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Dirt for a finish. Dirt tries to escape but Banner has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Dirt is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Banner gets his way!

Banner looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Dirt wants to control his opponent's hands but Banner gets his hands free. Banner controls the action. Banner has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dirt has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
