PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 1089 p4p, 3597 weight class) and Slim Slow (ranked 60 p4p, 194 weight class). Dux comes to the cage accompanied by Bloodsport. Slim Slow told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Dux! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Slim Slow! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dux drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slow wants to get back to his feet. Slow on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Slow felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Slow wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Slow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dux. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dux working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Slow is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dux is controlling him well. Slow is letting Dux control him for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slow is trying to buck Dux off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dux fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Dux working the head with strikes. Slow is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dux is controlling him well. Dux trying to control the action but Slow is working from the bottom. Slow is trying to get back to his feet. Dux is working Slow over with some ground and pound from side control. Slow is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dux asserts his dominance and retains side control. Dux working the ground and pound from side control.
Slow is rocked! Slow seems a little lost for a moment, as Dux dominates the positioning. Slow is still in real trouble! Can Dux finish him? Dux in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Slow taking a bit of punishment here - Dux scoring with strikes. Dux cracks Slow with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Dux immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Slow is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Dux!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Frank Dux! Frank Dux seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
