Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Mullin (ranked 2635 p4p, 14350 weight class) and Masada The Zealot (ranked 326 p4p, 475 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Herbert Mullin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 49 - 0, fighting out of New York, Masada The Zealot!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Zealot misses with a double jab

and Mullin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mullin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The Zealot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mullin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mullin postures up in The Zealot's guard and throws a big left but The Zealot blocks it.
The Zealot is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mullin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mullin pushes down on The Zealot's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Still in half guard, Mullin seems content to control.

Mullin is working for a submission of some sort.
The Zealot keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Mullin seems to be working for a kimura but The Zealot defends the submission attempt.
The Zealot is in trouble now - Mullin has advanced to mount!
Mullin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The Zealot defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mullin.
Mullin looking to control and managing it successfully.

Mullin has hold of The Zealot's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and The Zealot manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mullin lands with some vicious ground and pound - can The Zealot hang on?

The Zealot defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mullin.
Mullin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Mullin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

The Zealot is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Mullin locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! The Zealot is forced to tap!

During a confident post fight interview, Herbert Mullin thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
