Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Carpenter (ranked 2372 p4p, 5355 weight class) and Bertrand Wade (ranked 112 p4p, 204 weight class). Mike Carpenter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bertrand Wade! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wade looks to land a combination but Carpenter avoids it well. Carpenter moves into the clinch successfully.
Carpenter goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wade prevents it.
Carpenter has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Wade clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Wade is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Carpenter seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Wade defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Carpenter's arms. Carpenter connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Wade to escape the position.
Carpenter gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Wade just trying to survive but Carpenter is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Wade is taking damage to the body and head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carpenter doesn't have the hooks in and Wade manages to turn into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wade makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wade accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wade trying to control but Carpenter is working from the bottom. Carpenter is looking to stand up but Wade isn't so interested in that idea. Carpenter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Wade is working Carpenter over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Wade is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Wade is looking to pass into half guard but Carpenter pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Carpenter is in guard. Wade manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carpenter manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wade trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Wade is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Wade with a nice head shot there. Wade has gone for a leg lock! Carpenter slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wade's guard. Wade wants to sweep here but Carpenter controlling him for the moment. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Carpenter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Carpenter connects with a couple of short punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carpenter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wade controlling the position. Wade keeping moving, preventing Carpenter from controlling successfully. Wade controls Carpenter momentarily but Carpenter frees himself. Carpenter content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Wade looking for a guillotine here but Carpenter defends easily.
Carpenter is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wade tries to land a sweep but no joy. Our spies down at at Tappelukerho inform us that Wade has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Carpenter lands a couple of elbows. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wade is on top in guard.
Wade wanted to stand there but Carpenter had control of the position. Wade with a flurry of punches that miss. Wade has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wade postures up in Carpenter's guard and throws a big left but Carpenter blocks it. Carpenter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Carpenter dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Wade tries to clinch up but Carpenter circles away and keeps his distance. Wade fails with a takedown attempt. Carpenter throws a leg kick and Wade counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Wade is looking to break free of the clinch but Carpenter has double underhooks. Carpenter is trying to drag Wade to the mat but Wade just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Wade lands a left hand that snaps the head of Carpenter backwards. Wade drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carpenter gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Wade pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carpenter bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Wade! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carpenter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carpenter preventing the sweep. Carpenter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Carpenter wants to control from the top but Wade keeps moving. Carpenter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wade can do to turn this around? Wade not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Wade being controlled here, momentarily.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Carpenter closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Wade! Carpenter dives in looking to finish! Wade is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Carpenter!
