This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Jacques Chancel! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 3 losses; Tim Smooth! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Smooth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Chancel (0) vs (4) Smooth Smooth controls the position. Smooth tries to advance to mount but can't. You can see the frustration on Chancel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Chancel tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smooth wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Chancel seems a little lost for a moment, as Smooth dominates the positioning. Smooth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chancel keeps working. Chancel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Smooth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chancel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chancel is trying to get back to half guard.

Smooth looking for the RNC. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. I would not like to be Chancel right now.

Smooth trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Chancel doesn't escape. Well, with Smooth on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Chancel is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Smooth is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

It looks like Smooth might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Chancel tries to escape but Smooth has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Smooth keeps control of the position easily here as Chancel tries to buck him off.
Smooth working for a choke but Chancel is defending well. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Chancel tries to escape but Smooth has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Smooth just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Let's hope that Smooth has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Chancel is really stuck here.

Smooth swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smooth looking to control.

Chancel is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Smooth is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. That's nine minutes gone in the round. Chancel trying to get back to full guard but Smooth takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Chancel (2) vs (14) Smooth Chancel is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smooth trying to control but he's not successful this time. Smooth looking to control and managing it successfully. Smooth wants to take Chancel's back here but Chancel is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Chancel tries to lock up and control but Smooth gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Smooth is working for a guillotine from mount but Chancel frees his head quite easily.
Smooth with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
