Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ramey Couzins (ranked 3991 p4p, 4224 weight class) and Mervin McMervin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ramey Couzins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mervin McMervin! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McMervin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Couzins quickly recovers to half guard. McMervin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Couzins keeps working. Couzins wants to get back to full guard. Couzins is not content to let McMervin control the position. Couzins trying to control but McMervin postures up.
Ground and pound from McMervin. McMervin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Couzins wants to get back to full guard. Couzins is working hard here to advance position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Couzins looking for submissions from an awkward position here. McMervin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Couzins keeps working. McMervin winds up and cracks Couzins with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Couzins trying to control but McMervin postures up.
McMervin trying to control from half guard but Couzins is working away. McMervin is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Couzins! Couzins is in all sorts of trouble here.
McMervin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Couzins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Couzins regains half guard. McMervin drops an elbow to the side of Couzins's head. McMervin is trying to control. Couzins wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Couzins trying to hold on to McMervin's head to control him but McMervin postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Couzins is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McMervin scores with a couple of nice shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from McMervin there. Couzins looking for submissions off his back. McMervin prevents Couzins from improving his position. Ground and pound from McMervin. Couzins is looking to improve his position.

McMervin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Couzins trying to control from the bottom.
McMervin is nestled in close to Couzins, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. McMervin slips a nice elbow through Couzins's hands, connecting with Couzins's forehead. Couzins is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McMervin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McMervin's back! Couzins controlling well, preventing McMervin from escaping the position.
McMervin is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Couzins off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Couzins looking to break McMervin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. McMervin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Couzins will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! McMervin tries to break free.

Couzins is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. McMervin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften McMervin for a finish. Couzins is breathing heavily. Couzins doesn't have the hooks in and McMervin manages to turn into his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McMervin is looking to stand up but Couzins won't let him. McMervin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Couzins looking for a guillotine here but McMervin defends easily.
McMervin wants to control from the top but Couzins keeps moving. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Mervin McMervin dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. McMervin pushing out the jab but it's not landing. McMervin misses with a wild combination.
McMervin throws a right and a left that Couzins avoids nicely. McMervin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Couzins on his heels. He'll look to pass Couzins's guard now, I'm sure. McMervin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Couzins isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McMervin stacks Couzins on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McMervin! Couzins manages to work his way to half guard, despite McMervin's best efforts. McMervin wants to work for an arm triangle but Couzins is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McMervin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Couzins is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McMervin pulls his head out easily. McMervin is looking for a kimura here.
McMervin is breathing heavily. Couzins makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Couzins. McMervin chips away with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Couzins is looking for a triangle but McMervin pushes his legs off easily.

McMervin landing some decent shots from guard. Couzins has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. McMervin doesn't defend quickly enough and Couzins has managed to lock this one up! Can McMervin escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Couzins on a fantastic submission victory.
