Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ioelu Vavau (ranked 4706 p4p, 4287 weight class) and Marian Herzog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marian Herzog acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ioelu Vavau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marian Herzog! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Herzog closes the distance looking to clinch and Vavau counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Herzog manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vavau on his heels. He'll look to pass Vavau's guard now, I'm sure. Vavau is looking to stand back up but Herzog counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vavau.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Herzog lands with a punch from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Herzog lands a nice short elbow. Herzog is controlling the pace.
Herzog decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Herzog lands a slapping body shot.
A jab from Herzog does it's job there. Herzog tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vavau swats him away and circles back towards the center. It looked like Vavau wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Herzog with a lazy takedown attempt and Vavau counters with a straight right hand. Vavau really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vavau avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick misses from Herzog. Herzog darts in trying to clinch enabling Vavau to counter with a crisp jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Herzog gets the takedown into side control. Vavau sneaks out the side door and pushes Herzog away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Vavau blocks a head kick by Herzog.
Herzog misses with a takedown attempt and Vavau counters with a lovely straight right hand! Herzog with a lazy takedown attempt and Vavau counters with a nice uppercut. Ioelu Vavau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marian Herzog. Vavau leaves Herzog with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. An attempted straight right counter from Vavau misses the target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Herzog tries to clinch enabling Vavau to counter with a crisp jab. Herzog tries to clinch up but Vavau circles away and keeps his distance. It looked like Vavau wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Herzog closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vavau quickly recovers to half guard. Herzog slows the pace down in half guard. Vavau is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vavau tries to kick Herzog off in order to stand up. Herzog Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Herzog decides to stand up, so the ref orders Vavau to his feet. Herzog shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Herzog was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Herzog is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Vavau looks calm but he's in trouble here. Herzog gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Vavau is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Herzog lets go of the hold and Vavau can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marian Herzog!
