PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eemeli Lampi (ranked 172 p4p, 140 weight class) and Mike Haggar (ranked 26 p4p, 22 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Eemeli Lampi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Haggar!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lampi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Haggar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lampi. Haggar does a little dance to reset his feet.
Haggar swings widly with a right hand
and Lampi counters with a stiff right hand.
Haggar dives in and grabs Lampi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lampi pushes down on Haggar's head and hops out.
Lampi connects with a single shot there.

Haggar thows a left - swing and a miss!
Lampi misses with a wild body shot.
Haggar lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Haggar uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lampi.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Haggar has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Lampi has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Helsinki Private Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Haggar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Haggar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Haggar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lampi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Haggar wants to take a breather but Lampi is having none of it.
Haggar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
