The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mendoza is fending him off so far but Miller persists. Nope, Mendoza circles away and we're back to standing.

Miller drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Miller tries for a kimura but Mendoza is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller trying to control the action but Mendoza is working from the bottom.

Miller is trying to get an arm triangle but Mendoza is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Miller wants to control the pace but Mendoza is squirming around nicely.

Miller is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mendoza is surviving well by controlling Miller's body position as best he can.

Miller is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mendoza has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mendoza!

Miller is breathing heavily.
Mendoza is looking to stand up but Miller won't let him.
Mendoza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Miller prevents Mendoza from standing back up.

Miller is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mendoza sees it coming and defends easily.
Miller looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Miller has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mendoza defend it? Miller steps over the head and cranks it - Mendoza is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Miller!
