Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bubbi Morthens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Rood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rood has chosen Enter Sandman, by Metallica as his entrance music. Brad Rood has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bubbi Morthens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Rood! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morthens closes the distance and clinches up with Rood, looking for a takedown. Morthens pushes Rood against the cage but Rood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Morthens manages to avoid it. Brad Rood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rood tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rood throws a big shot that misses. Rood swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rood gets caught flat footed, as Morthens shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Morthens drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rood dives on top into guard. Morthens not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rood working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Morthens's head. Morthens controls Rood momentarily but Rood frees himself. Rood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rood preventing the sweep. Rood postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Morthens is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Morthens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rood swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rood trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Rood trying to strike off his back.
Rood trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Morthens preventing the sweep. Rood is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Morthens wants to pass the guard but Rood is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rood will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rood misses with a hook. Morthens avoids the body shot from Rood.

Rood throws a jab when Morthens was well out of range. Rood thows a body shot but no joy. Rood throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Morthens shoots in looking for a takedown. Rood tries to sprawl out of it but Morthens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rood manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Morthens bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rood can't do much from the bottom here. Morthens blocks the strikes from Rood.
Rood tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Morthens wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rood can do anything to dispel that myth. Morthens is looking to take a break and control but Rood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Morthens is breathing heavily. Rood sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Rood wants to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rood swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Morthens. Morthens wants to clinch up but Rood keeps it at a distance. Rood pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rood throws a hook to the side of Morthens's head but Morthens sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Rood feints and as Morthens raises his hands in defense, Rood changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rood's corner is telling him to maintain position. Rood chips away with some ground and pound. Rood trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rood working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rood content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Morthens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rood is one step ahead there. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rood's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Rood passes Morthens's left leg - he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brad Rood dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rood gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rood wants to break free but Morthens has control.
Rood avoiding damage.
Rood receives a warning from the referee for stalling. Rood gets through Morthens's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rood can't break the clinch.
Rood gets underhooks to prevent Morthens's takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Morthens goes for a takedown attempt but Rood pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Morthens changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rood tries to buck Morthens off but Morthens is having none of it. Rood throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Rood is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rood sneaks back into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rood regains full guard. Nicely done. Rood trying to strike off his back.
Rood throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Rood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morthens. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rood looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rood keeping moving, preventing Morthens from controlling successfully. Morthens wants to pass the guard but Rood is keeping the position. Rood throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rood lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Morthens trying to control the position from guard on top but Rood is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rood drives through and clinches with Morthens against the cage.
Morthens jumps guard but Rood stands there with Morthens around his waist. Morthens gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bubbi Morthens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Morthens tries for a takedown but Rood manages to get underhooks.

Morthens walks into a straight right hand from Rood. Rood misses with a few strikes there.
Morthens misses with a takedown attempt and Rood counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Rood lands with a punch from half guard. Morthens is looking for a sweep. Rood is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morthens is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rood scores with a couple of nice shots. Rood scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rood connects with a nice short shot to Morthens's temple. Rood drops an elbow to the side of Morthens's head. Rood is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Morthens wants to control but Rood is keeping busy and won't allow it. Morthens has hold of Rood's hands but Rood slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Morthens trying to control from the bottom.
Rood is nestled in close to Morthens, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Morthens tries to roll over but Rood keeps him under control. Rood lands strikes from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brad Rood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Rood lands with a right hand. A slow jab from Rood misses its intended target. Rood lands a with a good body shot. Morthens ducks under a wild hook from Rood. Rood throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rood throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Rood fails to land with a series of punches.
Rood moves in looking to clinch but Morthens pushes him off. Rood shoots in and bounces Morthens off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rood content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Rood must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rood chips away with some ground and pound. Rood distracts Morthens with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Brad Rood has got the better of the ground game so far. Rood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morthens swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rood lands a couple of elbows. Rood keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Morthens's head. Rood working some strikes from top position. Rood lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Rood postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Rood preventing the sweep. Rood distracts Morthens with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Rood with a nice head shot there. Rood with a nice head shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rood stands up over Morthens, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Rood scoring with some ground and pound. Rood is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Rood is in close to Morthens's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rood is working Morthens over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Morthens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Morthens is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rood works over Morthens with some ground and pound from guard. Morthens is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Morthens takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Morthens uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rood.
Rood scores with a hook to the body. Morthens takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Rood misses with a double jab.
Rood shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rood showed some decent athleticism there. Morthens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Morthens taking some punishment here, with Rood in his half guard. Brad Rood is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morthens is defending against the submission attempts here by Rood.
Morthens is trying to maintain the position but Rood is very close to passing his half guard. Rood scoring with strikes to the body and head. Rood has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rood working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Rood controlling the action here. Let's hope that Rood has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Bubbi Morthens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Morthens has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rood is working away from the top position though.
And that's the end of the fight! Brad Rood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
