This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 4 losses; Ferdinand Upsala! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Banner looking to score a takedown here. Upsala is defending well but Banner drives through and ends up in Upsala's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Banner (2) vs (0) Upsala Upsala manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Banner manages to get himself to full guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Banner (2) vs (2) Upsala Banner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Banner prevents Upsala from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Upsala slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Banner looking to pass the guard. Banner trying to control the position from guard on top but Upsala is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Banner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Upsala had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Banner defends it easily. Banner wants to pass the guard but Upsala is keeping the position. Banner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Upsala tries to get back to half guard but can't. Banner looking for a guillotine from mount but Upsala is having none of it. Banner controlling from mount. Banner seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Upsala is holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Banner controlling the pace for now. Upsala slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Upsala is not content to let Banner control the position. Banner works his foot free and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Banner (12) vs (2) Upsala Upsala sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Banner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Upsala knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Upsala is looking for a sweep. Banner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Banner with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Upsala is looking to improve his position.

Banner looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Banner is pressing down on Upsala's thigh, looking to free his foot. Upsala is holding on for now. Banner seems to be looking for submissions.
Upsala looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Upsala tries to get to full guard but Banner has control of the leg. Banner looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Well, if Banner is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Upsala is trying to reverse the position but instead Banner has taken his back - oops! Score +3 for taking back: Banner (18) vs (2) Upsala Banner has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Upsala's body.
Upsala defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Banner's arms. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Banner is looking to control Upsala but Upsala is wriggling around and keeping busy. Upsala won't enjoy being in this position. Banner looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Upsala is tapping - it's over boys! Banner picks up the submission victory!
