Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Wallace (ranked 3887 p4p, 3032 weight class) and Paul Welch (ranked 443 p4p, 366 weight class). Wallace comes into the arena with Enter The Chaser blaring out of the sound system. Shaun Wallace has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Shaun Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Welch!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace tries to close the distance and clinch up but Welch swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Welch stuns Wallace with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Welch looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wallace wants to clinch up but Welch keeps it at a distance.
Wallace cracks Welch with a right hand to the side of the head.
Welch throws the left hand but Wallace avoids the punch easily.
Wallace takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A cross from Welch lands.
Wallace throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Welch counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wallace darts in looking for a takedown but Welch gets double underhooks and turns Wallace into the cage.
Wallace misses with some punches.
Welch swings wildly with an uppercut but Wallace uses good head movement to avoid it.
Welch misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wallace.
Welch misses with a punch on the inside.
Wallace fails to pull guard.
Wallace throws a head punch that misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wallace is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaun Wallace. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wallace avoiding damage as Welch throws knees to the body.
Wallace jumps guard but Welch stands there with Wallace around his waist. Wallace gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wallace blocks a body shot from Welch.

Welch misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wallace.
Wallace is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Wallace is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Welch pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Welch looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Welch.
Wallace drops down looking for an ankle pick but Welch pulls his leg out and moves away.
Welch throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A big left from Welch misses.
Wallace shoots in looking for a takedown. Welch tries to sprawl out of it but Wallace keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Welch manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wallace drops his hands momentarily and Welch takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Wallace tries to clinch up but Welch circles away and keeps his distance.

Wallace gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Welch has a couple of punches blocked by Wallace.
Wallace throws a head punch that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Welch misses with the head strike.
Welch scores with a shoulder strike.
Wallace's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Wallace blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Wallace throws a punch but it's blocked by Welch.
Wallace goes for a takedown attempt but Welch pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Welch misses with a body shot.
Wallace uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Welch.
Welch misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wallace feinted with a counter takedown.
We've been told by Wallace's head coaches at Shut Up & Train! {$1000} that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Welch misses with a straight left.
Wallace moves to clinch but Welch breaks away
and Welch counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A slow jab from Welch misses its intended target.
Wallace seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
A combination from Welch does no damage.
No joy there for Welch, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wallace tries to clinch but Welch moves out of range.
Welch throws out a counter right but Wallace avoids it with no problem.
Welch is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wallace.
Wallace keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wallace shoots in and drives through. Welch sprawls well.
Wallace takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Paul Welch is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Left hook, right uppercut from Welch.
Wallace ducks under a wild hook from Welch.
Welch swats away the attempt to clinch by Wallace.
Welch scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
No joy there for Welch, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wallace tries to clinch up.
Wallace ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Welch looks to land a right hand but Wallace moved out of range.

Wallace has closed the distance and engaged Welch in a clinch.
Welch misses with some punches.
Welch is pressed up against the cage. Wallace has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Welch down to the mat. Welch avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Welch throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Welch circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wallace connects with the punch.
Wallace moves in looking to clinch but Welch pushes him off.
Welch uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Wallace has time to react.
Wallace avoids the head kick by Welch.
Welch misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wallace darts in trying to clinch
and Welch counters with a stiff right hand.
Welch lands a hook that stumbles Wallace back into the cage. Welch follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Wallace to the canvas! Welch pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Wallace has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Paul Welch!
Paul Welch really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Bondi MMA 🏝️ logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
