PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heavy Dude (ranked 2608 p4p, 3148 weight class) and Franklin Shark (ranked 300 p4p, 345 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Heavy Dude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Franklin Shark!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shark slips a jab from Dude.
Shark connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

It looks like Heavy Dude has been cut.
Dude loads up on a big right hand but Shark slips the punch.
Shark jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Shark fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dude misses with an uppercut. Shark saw that one coming.
Shark scores with the left hand. Dude knows he should have avoided that one.
Shark jabs Dude right on the nose. Dude blinks but takes it well.
Shark digs a good hook to Dude's body.

Shark cracks Dude with a big right hand and Dude goes down!

Dude is rocked!

Heavy Dude's cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shark wants to stand and escape but instead Dude has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Oh Dude is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shark pulls Dude in close to prevent any damage.
Dude seems to have got his legs back now.
Dude stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shark swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shark is looking to stand up but Dude isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dude might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Shark is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Dude decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Shark throws a left that rocks Dude and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Shark dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Dude regain composure!

Heavy Dude's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Dude regains half guard there - taking advantage of Shark's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Dude is trying to get back to full guard.
Shark thows a huge punch but Dude dodges it nicely.

Dude is doing well to control the position and prevent Shark from advancing to side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Shark is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dude defends it well.

Dude has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Shark is on him like a limpet, forcing Dude back against the cage.
Dude swings wildly with an uppercut but Shark uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dude keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Shark's efforts to push away.
Dude is struggling to control the position.
Dude lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shark backwards.

It looks like Franklin Shark has been cut.
A frustrated look appears on Shark's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Dude swings wildly with an uppercut but Shark uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shark's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dude drops his hands momentarily and Shark takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Jeez, Heavy Dude's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Heavy Dude's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Franklin Shark!
Franklin Shark decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
