Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willy Mataitai (ranked 395 p4p, 502 weight class) and Sammy Beach (ranked 61 p4p, 78 weight class). Sammy Beach has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Willy Mataitai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 26 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sammy Beach! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beach fails in his attempt to clinch. Beach has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Beach takes a jab right on the kisser.
Beach misses with a wild body shot. Beach is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Beach tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mataitai swats him away and circles back towards the center. Beach tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mataitai manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A little feinted left hand from Mataitai on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Beach doesn't manage to clinch there - Mataitai circles away.

Beach moves in looking to clinch but Mataitai pushes him off. Beach cracks Mataitai with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
It looks like Willy Mataitai has been cut. Mataitai circles away from the clinch attempt and Mataitai cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beach takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. The fight stays on the outside here - Beach looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mataitai was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Beach tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Beach takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beach tries to clinch but Mataitai moves out of range. Mataitai has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Beach has taken the fight to the clinch.

Beach tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mataitai's elbow. Mataitai throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Beach struggles to land a body shot inside as Mataitai controls his hands.

Beach wants to clinch up but Mataitai keeps it at a distance. Beach fails in his attempt to clinch. Beach tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mataitai manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Mataitai misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Beach.
Beach avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mataitai swings for the body but Beach moves out of range.
Beach bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Beach ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Beach throws out a counter right but Mataitai avoids it with no problem. Sammy Beach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beach pushes Mataitai up against the cage in a clinch. Mataitai tries to work over Beach's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Beach misses with a hook to the ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mataitai lands an elbow inside that Beach shrugs off.
It looks like Sammy Beach has been cut. Mataitai comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. This has been an exciting period of action! The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Mataitai lands an elbow inside. A head punch on the inside from Beach fails to land. Mataitai pushes Beach back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Mataitai is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Mataitai scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Beach tries to clinch but Mataitai is having none of it. Beach tries to clinch up. Mataitai lands a glancing blow to the side of Beach's head. Mataitai throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Beach tries to clinch and Mataitai cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Beach tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mataitai paws at him with a jab and circles away. Beach gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mataitai. Mataitai dodges the punch combination from Beach.
Beach walks straight into a right hand from Mataitai - that's dropped him! Mataitai jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Beach from any more punishment! Beach complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
