Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kwasi Kwong (ranked 1419 p4p, 1134 weight class) and Dag Schotel (ranked 200 p4p, 155 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kwasi Kwong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dag Schotel! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slow jab from Kwong misses its intended target. Left hook, right uppercut from Kwong. Schotel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kwong. The fighters circling - Schotel throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Schotel takes one to the chin there. Kwong with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schotel to score with a decent uppercut. A big left from Schotel misses. Kwong seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Schotel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Good exchange - Kwong coming out on top. Kwong throws a series of punches but Schotel avoids them all with ease. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kwong misses with a body shot
and Schotel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A looping hook to the body misses from Kwong. Schotel does a little dance to reset his feet. Schotel misses with a looping right. A slow jab from Schotel misses its intended target. Nice uppercut lands for Kwong. That snapped Schotel's head back.

Schotel bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Kwong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Schotel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kwong gets caught napping as Schotel dives in and scores a takedown. Kwong manages to retain guard. Schotel controls from within his opponent's guard. Schotel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Schotel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Schotel throws an elbow that misses. Kwong uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schotel's guard. Nice move by Kwong! Kwong is stalling in the full guard. Kwong wants to control from the top but Schotel keeps moving. Kwong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schotel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kwong stopping the sweep attempt from Schotel. Kwong is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Schotel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kwong avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Schotel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kwong trying to control the position from guard on top but Schotel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Schotel controlling Kwong's posture. Schotel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kwong wanted to stand there but Schotel had control of the position. Schotel looking for a sweep. Not yet Schotel, not yet. Kwong wanted to stand there but Schotel had control of the position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Schotel keeping moving, preventing Kwong from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Schotel takes one on the button. Schotel darts in looking for a takedown but Kwong gets double underhooks and turns Schotel into the cage. Kwong drops Schotel with a beautiful combination! Schotel stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Kwong is looking for the KO!
Schotel is rocked! Kwong looks to land a combination but Schotel avoids it well. Schotel is still on wobbly legs! Can Kwong finish him? Kwong drops Schotel with a naaaaasty hook - Schotel is in real trouble here! Kwong dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kwasi Kwong! An out of breath Kwasi Kwong thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
