Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Hevel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marco Vera!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Marco Vera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vera looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A quick step to the side and Hevel tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hevel scores with a decent looking hook.
Vera fails to land with a series of punches.
A little feinted left hand from Hevel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Vera cracks Hevel with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
It looks like Tim Hevel has been cut.
Vera misses with a body shot.
Hevel appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

and Hevel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hevel moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters circle momentarily. Vera darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Vera scores with the left hand. Hevel knows he should have avoided that one.
Hevel lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Vera sizes up Hevel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Vera bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Hevel! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Oh Hevel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hevel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vera is one step ahead there.
Vera decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hevel seems to have got his legs back now.
Vera might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Vera throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hevel.

Vera throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hevel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
It looked like Hevel wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Vera drops Hevel with a left and a right! Oh, Hevel is hurt - Vera dives into side control looking to finish!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hevel is looking for a sweep.
Hevel is working hard here to advance position.

Vera stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Some wild striking there from Vera.
Hevel half committed to a counter leg kick.
Hevel is looking to score with low kicks.
Hevel walks into a jab.
Tim Hevel's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
A jab from Vera misses.
Vera connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Vera fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hevel looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Vera missing with a left hand there. Hevel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
As Vera backs away, Hevel returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Hevel needs to keep his hands up - Vera had a free shot at his head there.
Jeez, Tim Hevel's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hevel walks straight into a right hand from Vera - that's dropped him! Vera jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Hevel from any more punishment! Hevel complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Marco Vera!
