The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meyer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wade has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Meyer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Wade is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Meyer is defending well.
Wade throws a head punch that misses.
Meyer displaying some good clinch control by pressing Wade up against the cage.

Meyer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Meyer counters with a nice uppercut.
We've been hearing reports that Wade has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyer lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Meyer darts in and clinches Wade up against the cage.

Wade tries to score a body lock takedown but Meyer shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Meyer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Meyer cracks Wade with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Wade looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Meyer finish him?

It looks like Bertrand Wade has been cut.

Meyer told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Meyer is trying to get back to half guard.
Wade wants to lay and pray for a moment but Meyer keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wade goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Meyer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wade's guard! Nice work there by Meyer!

Meyer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wade wants to sweep here but Meyer controlling him for the moment.
Meyer passes Wade's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Wade is looking for a sweep. Meyer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
