PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Radar (ranked 536 p4p, 670 weight class) and Zack Rize (ranked 78 p4p, 97 weight class). Rize has chosen Luke Combs - When It Rains It Pours as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Radar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zack Rize! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good leg kick by Rize. Radar throws out a loose jab but Rize uses good head movement to avoid it. Radar swings widly with a right hand
and Rize cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Max Radar has been cut. Rize misses with a hook. Radar ducked under it nicely. Radar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rize swings away with a leg kick that misses. Radar misses with a straight left. Rize cracks Radar with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Rize has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Radar misses with a looping left. A telegraphed right hand from Radar misses the target. Radar just misses with a punch to the body.
Rize misses with a leg kick and Radar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Rize misses with a lunging right hand
and Radar counters with a nice uppercut. A jab from Rize misses. Rize steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Radar. Rize appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Radar checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Radar wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Radar thumps Rize with a low kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rize avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rize swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Radar checks the leg kick nicely there.
The fighters circling - Radar throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rize slips under a jab. Radar closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Radar falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rize counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Radar looks to throw the jab but Rize is out of range. Radar is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Radar connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Radar throws a shot from downtown. Rize moves away and avoids it. Radar keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Radar misses with a hook
and Rize counters with a good low kick that Radar was not able to check. Rize misses with a leg kick. Radar scores with a jab to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Rize. Radar does a little dance to reset his feet. Rize throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Rize throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Rize thuds a left hand into Radar's body. Rize sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. This has been an exciting period of action! Rize connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Radar tries to work over Rize's front leg with a kick but Rize checks it. Rize connects with a solid leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rize blocks a jab. Rize uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Radar.
Radar attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Oooooh!!! Rize has knocked Radar down with a huge combo! Rize steps away and waves a wobbly Radar back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Radar is rocked! A good leg kick by Rize. Oh Radar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Rize takes a swing at Radar's ribcage but misses. Radar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rize circles away quickly and effectively. Rize just misses with a punch to the body.
Radar throwing a counter right hand but Rize manages to avoid it. Radar jabbing away but nothing is landing. Radar seems to have got his legs back now. Rize needs to keep his hands up - Radar had a free shot at his head there. Rize cracks Radar with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Max Radar's cut is getting worse. Rize cracks Radar with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Radar tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Rize pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Radar is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zack Rize! A relieved looking Zack Rize thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
