This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 4 losses; Jack Lake! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 13 losses; Ricky Peyton! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Lake shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Peyton as he avoids it easily. Peyton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lake tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Peyton is in Lake's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Lake (0) vs (2) Peyton Peyton trying to control the position from guard on top but Lake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lake looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Peyton trying to control but Lake is working from the bottom. Peyton won't allow Lake to sweep him here. Peyton wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving. Lake is controlling Peyton's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peyton drops back looking for a leg! Lake is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lake manages to kick Peyton off! Peyton jumps back into Lake's guard. Peyton is fighting to break Lake's control of his arms but Lake is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peyton wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving. Peyton being controlled here momentarily. Lake manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Peyton manages to get himself to full guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Lake (2) vs (2) Peyton Lake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Peyton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lake defends it easily. Lake trying to control but Peyton is working from the bottom. Lake is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Peyton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Lake's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peyton working a defensive guard here.
Peyton looking for a triangle here. Lake is fighting it but it looks tight! Peyton pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Lake is tapping out - this one is all over!
