Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Mikkel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frankie Griggs!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs looks to throw the jab but Mikkel is out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Mikkel misses the target.
Mikkel checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Mikkel swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Griggs scores with a jab to the jaw.
Griggs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Griggs looks to land a combination but Mikkel avoids it well.
Mikkel throws a body punch but Griggs moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griggs throws a leg kick
enabling Mikkel to counter with a crisp jab.
Griggs misses with a body punch
and Mikkel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mikkel. Griggs does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Griggs lands a nice shot that snaps Mikkel's head back.
It looks like Dan Mikkel has been cut.
Griggs throws the left hand but Mikkel avoids the punch easily.
Griggs swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mikkel counters with a nice right hand that sends Griggs toppling to the canvas! Griggs scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Mikkel finish him?!
Griggs is rocked!
Griggs fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Griggs misses with a shot to the body
and Mikkel counters with a crisp right hand that drops Griggs! Mikkel lets Griggs back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Griggs is still on wobbly legs! Can Mikkel finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mikkel drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Griggs's head, knocking him out cold! Mikkel is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dan Mikkel!
Dan Mikkel bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
