PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Junior Seto (ranked 2102 p4p, 3048 weight class) and Roy Kalama (ranked 277 p4p, 376 weight class). Seto kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Doors - Roadhouse Blues. Kalama has chosen Firestarter - The Prodigy as his entrance music. Junior Seto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Junior Seto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roy Kalama!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalama stuffs the takedown.
Seto shoots in but no luck this time.
Kalama lands a jab to Seto's midsection.
Kalama displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Seto.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junior Seto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Seto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kalama is fending him off so far but Seto persists. Nope, Kalama circles away and we're back to standing.

Seto is working for takedown but Kalama is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kalama lands a left hand that snaps the head of Seto backwards.
Seto is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kalama gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Kalama lands with a light punch inside.

Kalama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Seto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Seto has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Seto passes easily into side control. Nice work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kalama can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kalama gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Seto with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Seto is working for a guillotine from mount but Kalama frees his head quite easily.

Seto is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kalama can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Seto wants to control the pace but Kalama is squirming around nicely.

Seto is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kalama to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kalama shrugs it off.
Kalama has given up his back. Will we see Seto going for some submissions?

Kalama won't enjoy being in this position. Seto looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Kalama is tapping - it's over boys! Seto picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Junior Seto!
A relieved looking Junior Seto thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
