Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tad Reeves (ranked 3545 p4p, 4030 weight class) and Brett Doyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Brett Doyle enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tad Reeves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brett Doyle!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doyle leaves Reeves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Doyle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reeves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Doyle somewhat.
Doyle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Reeves closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Doyle did well to prevent Reeves getting side control.
Doyle wants to get back to his feet.
Reeves winds up and cracks Doyle with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reeves is stalling here. Doyle is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Reeves seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Doyle has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Doyle is hanging on to Reeves's back as he tries to escape.

Doyle is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Reeves has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Reeves is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Doyle gets his way!
Reeves knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Doyle on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

You can see the frustration on Reeves's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Doyle is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Reeves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Doyle explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Doyle has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Reeves slaps away a takedown attempt from Doyle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Doyle tries a head kick but it misses.
Reeves shoots for a takedown but Doyle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Doyle appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Reeves closes the distance and clinches up with Doyle, looking for a takedown. Reeves pushes Doyle against the cage but Doyle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Doyle shoots for a double leg takedown but Reeves sprawls well. He's pushed Doyle's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

As Doyle tries to get set, Reeves tries to push him back and clinch up but Doyle manages to avoid the attempt.
Reeves throws a sloppy head kick and Doyle moves out of range easily.
Doyle is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Reeves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Reeves counters with a series of strikes. Doyle will be more careful next time no doubt.

Doyle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reeves tries to avoid it but Doyle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reeves to the ground. Reeves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Reeves seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Reeves appears to be looking for a big counter.
Doyle tries to clinch up.
Reeves throws a right hand that Doyle ducks under and follows up with a left that Doyle also avoids with ease.
Reeves displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Doyle.

Doyle is working for takedown but Reeves is calmly controlling the position for now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tad Reeves will probably get the nod.

Reeves shoots for a double leg takedown but Doyle sprawls well. He's pushed Reeves's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Reeves has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Doyle is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Reeves is pressed up against the cage. Doyle has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Reeves down to the mat. Reeves avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Reeves shoots in looking for a takedown but Doyle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reeves's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Reeves misses with a takedown attempt - Doyle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Doyle closes the distance and clinches up with Reeves, looking for a takedown. Doyle pushes Reeves against the cage but Reeves circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Reeves went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Doyle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Reeves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Doyle sprawls well initially but Reeves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Doyle has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Reeves is on him like a limpet, forcing Doyle back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Reeves has Doyle pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Reeves pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Doyle tumbling to the mat - Reeves dives into Doyle's guard.

Doyle has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Reeves is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brett Doyle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
