Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Albert Hofmann (ranked 1722 p4p, 2926 weight class) and Pierre Sutton (ranked 231 p4p, 348 weight class). Hofmann's entrance music is Trip Like I Do. A fine choice. Sutton has chosen So Appalled as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre Sutton!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hofmann closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sutton quickly recovers to half guard.
Sutton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sutton is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hofmann scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sutton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hofmann. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sutton is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hofmann scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sutton wants to get back to his feet.
Hofmann slips a nice elbow through Sutton's hands, connecting with Sutton's forehead.
Hofmann is nestled in close to Sutton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hofmann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sutton felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Sutton pushes Hofmann away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hofmann gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hofmann remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sutton can do anything to dispel that myth.
