The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carvalho looks to land a combination but Van Cleefe avoids it well.
Carvalho misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Van Cleefe.
Carvalho lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Lee Van Cleefe has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Van Cleefe is pushing down on Carvalho's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carvalho is fighting to maintain full guard but Van Cleefe has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Van Cleefe lands a nice short elbow.
Carvalho is defending against the submission attempts here by Van Cleefe.
Van Cleefe wants to pass the guard but Carvalho is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Carvalho is kicking away at Van Cleefe from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Van Cleefe grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Carvalho trying to push Van Cleefe off... Carvalho taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
