Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 50 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jax Thomas!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sota Sankari!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Sankari looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Thomas stands up and waves to Sankari to follow him.

Thomas gets a takedown into half guard.

Thomas decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Thomas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sankari sprawls well initially but Thomas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Thomas decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Thomas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sankari to the mat! Sankari manages to get full guard.

Thomas gets to his feet - Sankari follows without any prompting.
Sankari looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Thomas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sankari not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Thomas definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Sankari working for a triangle but Thomas defends it easily.

Thomas stands up and waves to Sankari to follow him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Thomas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sankari napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Thomas stands up and beckons Sankari to his feet.

Thomas looking to score a takedown here. Sankari is defending well but Thomas drives through and ends up in Sankari's guard.

Thomas stands up and waves to Sankari to follow him.

Thomas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thomas lands in his opponent's guard.

Sankari is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thomas gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sankari is still on wobbly legs! Can Thomas finish him?

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Thomas is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Sankari is in big trouble! Thomas is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Sankari. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Jax Thomas!
