This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 2 losses; Zeke Mafner! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dubs. Mafner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Dubs (0) vs (2) Mafner Dubs makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dubs. Mafner trying to control the position from guard on top but Dubs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mafner tries to free his leg and advance position but Dubs is retaining full guard. Dubs looking to control.
Mafner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dubs swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dubs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dubs can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mafner controls the pace. Mafner should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Dubs is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mafner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mafner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mafner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Mafner wants to control from the top but Dubs keeps moving. Dubs looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mafner pushing down on Dubs's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Mafner is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dubs defends it well. Mafner uses his free foot to push down on Dubs's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dubs. Score +3 for passing guard: Dubs (0) vs (5) Mafner Mafner is working for a guillotine from mount but Dubs frees his head quite easily.

Mafner's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Dubs is holding on here and Mafner must be using up a lot of energy. Dubs has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Mafner gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
