This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 5 losses; Ferdinand Upsala! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 3 losses; Olyksandr Chai! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Chai moves into the clinch successfully.
Chai has Upsala pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Chai pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Upsala tumbling to the mat - Chai dives into Upsala's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Upsala (0) vs (2) Chai Chai wants to control from the top but Upsala keeps moving. Upsala is adopting a defensive guard. Chai controlling from the top position. Chai preventing the sweep. Chai drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chai jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chai trying to control the position from guard on top but Upsala is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Chai content to stall in guard here. Upsala looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chai is one step ahead there.

Chai wants to pass the guard but Upsala is keeping the position. Upsala keeping moving, preventing Chai from controlling successfully. That's two minutes gone in the round. Chai controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Let's hope that Chai has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Upsala tries to hold on but Chai postures up. Chai with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chai wants to control the pace but Upsala is squirming around nicely. Upsala keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chai has control of Upsala's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Upsala regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Upsala controls the position. Chai avoids the attempt from Upsala to control. Upsala is wriggling around trying to escape.
Chai takes Upsala's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Upsala is in trouble. Score +3 for taking back: Upsala (0) vs (10) Chai Chai has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Upsala's body.
Chai has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Upsala has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Chai has hold of Upsala's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Upsala manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Upsala wants to control but instead Chai manages to regain half guard. Upsala is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Chai moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Chai managing to control the position. Upsala forces his way into half guard. We've been hearing that Upsala has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

He's hooked one of Upsala's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Upsala's back! He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Chai's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Upsala. Chai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Upsala is just riding it out for now. Chai eventually gives up the hold. Chai slows the pace down in half guard. Upsala tries to roll over but Chai keeps him under control.
