Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joao Stawarski (ranked 1714 p4p, 2953 weight class) and Grant Harklie (ranked 187 p4p, 312 weight class). Stawarski's entrance music is They Don’t Care About Us. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Stawarski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Grant Harklie! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harklie gets a takedown into half guard. Stawarski looking for submissions off his back. Harklie frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Stawarski is wriggling around trying to escape.
Harklie working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Stawarski is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Stawarski regains half guard. Harklie tries to pass to full mount but Stawarski defends it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harklie is keen to just control but Stawarski is a slippery customer. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. So far it seems to be working well. Harklie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stawarski! Harklie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stawarski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Stawarski is trying to escape the mount.
Stawarski is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Harklie trying to control but Stawarski is having none of it. Harklie putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Stawarski is bucking up trying to escape but Harklie cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Stawarski working to try and regain half guard.
Harklie working for a guillotine from mount but Stawarski is in no mood to give up. Harklie looking to control but Stawarski is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Harklie breaks from Stawarski's wrist control and lands an elbow. Harklie is landing with some decent strikes but Stawarski is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Stawarski gets back to half guard. Stawarski actively working from the bottom here. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stawarski is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Harklie pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harklie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stawarski! Harklie has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Stawarski's face.
Harklie looking to secure an arm triangle but Stawarski defends it well. Stawarski is looking to get to half guard. Harklie has control of Stawarski's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stawarski regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Stawarski sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Stawarski is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Harklie pulls his head out easily. Harklie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Harklie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Grant Harklie dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Harklie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Harklie lands in his opponent's guard. Harklie loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Stawarski is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Grant Harklie has got the better of the ground game so far. Stawarski has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Harklie should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Stawarski has tightened it up now! Harklie should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Joao Stawarski! After winning the bout, Joao Stawarski thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
