PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 24304 p4p, 24203 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nada avoids the head kick by Kiang.

Nada drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nada with the ground and pound but Kiang regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kiang tries to get to full guard but Nada has control of the leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiang has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nada is working away from the top position though.
Nada content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kiang is holding on to half guard well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Nada shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nada showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nada controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Nada might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kiang is trying to maintain the position but Nada is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nada is defended easily by Kiang.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kiang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nada was covering up waiting for the punch and Kiang finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kiang being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiang controls from within his opponent's guard.
Nada has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kiang makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kiang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Nada controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kiang closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nada to the mat! Nada manages to get full guard.
Nada looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kiang sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Nada has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kiang wants to control from the top but Nada keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nada trying to control the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Nada pulls Kiang in close to his closed guard and prevents Kiang from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nice sprawl there from Nada as Kiang shoots in.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yawa Kiang dominated that second round.
That's time! Kiang's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Nada drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Nada slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kiang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nada showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada is continuing to stall.

Nada wants to control from the top but Kiang keeps moving.
Nada is fighting to break Kiang's control of his arms but Kiang is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kiang looking for a sweep. Not yet Kiang, not yet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nada.
Kiang shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nada as he jumps to the side.

Kiang scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada tries to get to full guard but Kiang has control of the leg.
Kiang is thwarting Nada's attempts to control the position.
Nada has a hand on Kiang's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kiang takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nada tries to hold on but Kiang postures up.
Nada is trying to escape the mount.
Nada really wants to buck Kiang off and get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada holds on for dear life.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yawa Kiang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kiang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
