Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rulon Gardner (ranked 2213 p4p, 2326 weight class) and Tyrone Williams (ranked 227 p4p, 241 weight class). Gardner's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Stay Fly- The Imortal, Three 6 Mafia. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rulon Gardner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyrone Williams! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Gardner throws a right hand that misses
and Williams counters with a left to the body. Gardner throws a series of punches but Williams moves out of range. A big left from Gardner misses. Gardner with a nice cross.
It looks like Tyrone Williams has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gardner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Williams counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Rulon Gardner has been cut. Gardner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one. It seemed like Williams was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Rulon Gardner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gardner shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily. Williams looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Tyrone Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gardner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Williams has hold of Gardner's hands but Gardner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams won't allow Gardner to pass to mount. Gardner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gardner throwing shots but Williams is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gardner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Williams's head. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gardner connects with a nice short shot to Williams's temple. Gardner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Gardner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. That's four minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth. Gardner is nestled in close to Williams, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gardner connects with a nice short shot to Williams's temple. Gardner throwing shots but Williams is blocking nicely. Gardner landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Gardner sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Williams defending well though. Gardner throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gardner lands strikes from half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gardner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Williams wants to get back to full guard. Williams blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gardner. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Williams counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gardner has his takedown stuffed and Williams counters with a left to the body. Gardner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Williams moves out of range and avoids them all easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williams uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gardner. Gardner gets the takedown into side control.

Gardner tries to score with some ground and pound. Williams controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Gardner wants to control but Williams is keeping him busy. The strikes coming from Gardner are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Gardner cracks Williams with a big right hand but Williams just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

You can see the frustration on Williams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rulon Gardner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gardner works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Gardner cracks Williams with an elbow. That is naaassty. Williams is trying to control Gardner's posture but Gardner avoids it. Gardner lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Williams down.

Williams is rocked! Gardner cracks Williams with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Gardner immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Williams is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Gardner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rulon Gardner! In his post fight interview, Rulon Gardner started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
