PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Durall (ranked 3022 p4p, 4470 weight class) and Bjj Spar (ranked 349 p4p, 444 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Durall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bjj Spar !
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Spar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Durall wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Durall works Spar 's body with a nice hook.
Durall works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Durall paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Durall misses with a body shot.
Durall lands a nice shot to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Durall throws a jab when Spar was well out of range.

Spar clinches up with Durall and pushes him back against the cage.

Durall's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Durall lands a really nice looking cross but Spar seems unphased.

and Durall counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Spar takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Durall ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spar moves away.

Spar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Durall was covering up waiting for the punch and Spar finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Durall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Spar can do to turn this around?

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Spar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Durall is not content to let Spar control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Spar prevents Durall from escaping the position.

Durall is pushing Spar 's head away, looking to escape. Spar manages to hold on to the position though.
Durall is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Spar 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Spar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bjj Spar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Durall is looking to improve his position.

Spar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ronald Durall is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Durall is looking to control Spar 's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Durall avoid being mounted?

Durall is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Bjj Spar has got the better of the ground game so far.

I would just about give that final round to Bjj Spar .
I think Durall has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
