Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Elmeri Koira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonas Tesfay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonas Tesfay looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elmeri Koira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonas Tesfay!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koira tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tesfay looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Horrible takedown by Tesfay or perhaps it was just good defense by Koira which made him look bad.
Koira throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
A head kick misses from Koira.

Koira moves into range and clinches up with Tesfay.

Koira escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Koira throws a body punch but Tesfay moves out of range.

Koira fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tesfay sprawls well initially but Koira persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Koira wants to pass the guard but Tesfay is defending well.

Tesfay looking for submissions off his back.
Koira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tesfay on the ground.

Koira is working for a kimura but Tesfay is defending it quite comfortably.

Koira controlling the pace.
Koira's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Tesfay is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Koira pulls his head out easily.
Koira looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Koira wants to control but Tesfay is keeping him busy.
Koira takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Tesfay is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Koira's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Koira's back!
Koira tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Tesfay goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Koira is on top in guard.

Tesfay bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Koira's guard.
Tesfay wants to pass the guard but Koira is keeping the position.

Koira looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tesfay tries to free his leg and advance position but Koira is retaining full guard.
Tesfay works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Koira tries to kick Tesfay off but Tesfay keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tesfay is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tesfay trying to mount his opponent but Koira defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koira tries to roll over but Tesfay keeps him under control.

Koira kicks Tesfay off and gets back to his feet.

Koira shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Koira showed some decent athleticism there.

Tesfay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Koira with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Tesfay is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Koira in particular looking to stall.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Koira has closed the distance and engaged Tesfay in a clinch.

A slapping leg kick lands for Koira.
Koira tries to clinch up but Tesfay circles away and keeps his distance.

Koira wants to control from the top but Tesfay keeps moving.

Tesfay is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Koira slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Tesfay working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Koira would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Tesfay is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Koira pulls his head out easily.
Koira is pressing down on Tesfay's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tesfay is holding on for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tesfay is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Koira pulls his head out easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Koira feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Koira wants to stand but Tesfay has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Koira wants to control from the top but Tesfay keeps moving.

Koira decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tesfay, up you get!
Koira throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tesfay avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tesfay misses with a takedown

and Koira counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Koira stands up and waves to Tesfay to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elmeri Koira dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Koira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jonas Tesfay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tesfay uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Koira.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Koira.
Tesfay is looking to reverse the position.
Koira controlling the position.
Koira wants to control but Tesfay is keeping him busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tesfay is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Elmeri Koira overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Koira tries to stand but Tesfay is controlling from the bottom.

Koira gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Koira plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Koira looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Tesfay is defending well. Koira quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Tesfay has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Koira celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Elmeri Koira!
