Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dwayne King (ranked 20307 p4p, 3925 weight class) and Thad Thayer (ranked 537 p4p, 417 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 27 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dwayne King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thad Thayer!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thayer needs to keep his hands up - King had a free shot at his head there.

It looks like Thad Thayer has been cut.
King lands a right hook to the body.

Thayer instigates a clinch.
King tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
King has a couple of punches blocked by Thayer.
King avoids the elbow strike from Thayer, against the cage.
King throws a punch but it's blocked by Thayer.

Thayer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thayer takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thayer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. King looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
King is trying to escape the position but Thayer is controlling the position.

Thayer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Thayer tries to score with some ground and pound. King controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
King scores with a crisp jab that stopped Thayer in his tracks.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Thayer.
King misses with a shot to the kidneys.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from King.
Thayer lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of King backwards.
King gets through Thayer's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Thayer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Thayer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into King's guard.

King is looking to stand up but Thayer isn't so interested in that idea.

Thayer stands and steps away. King gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
King throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Thayer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Thayer drags the fight down to the ground.

King wants to get up but he can't break Thayer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Thayer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and King defends well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thayer has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes King off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

King moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Thayer doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Thayer lands with a thumping leg kick.

King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Thayer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. King quickly recovers to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thayer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
King looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

King is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Thayer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Thayer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
King wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Thayer manages to pass to side control.
Thad Thayer has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
