PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bagel Boss (ranked 596 p4p, 517 weight class) and Nick Barkley (ranked 84 p4p, 72 weight class). Boss kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 6 Foot 7 Foot. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Barkley!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Boss misses
and Barkley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Bagel Boss has been cut.
Barkley misses with a hook.
Barkley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Barkley takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Boss moves out of range of the leg kick from Barkley.
Boss swings widly with a right hand
and Barkley counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Boss ducks under a wild hook from Barkley.
Boss motions for Barkley to come forward. Boss throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Boss tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Barkley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Barkley steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Boss.
A nice side step and Barkley releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
A slow jab from Barkley misses its intended target.
A little feinted left hand from Boss on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Boss stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Barkley.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barkley connects with a solid leg kick.
Bagel Boss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boss misses with a body shot
and Barkley counters with a body kick that stops Boss in his tracks momentarily.
Barkley throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Barkley throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Barkley comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A cross from Barkley lands.

Barkley lands a big uppercut and Boss crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Boss looks OK. Barkley waves Boss back to his feet!

Boss is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barkley circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Boss tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Barkley wins by KO!
