Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, King Shoota! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonston Johnson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard. Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Johnson slips nicely into half guard. Shoota wants to get back to his feet.
Johnson is looking for a kimura but Shoota is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage. Shoota really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shoota is trying to stand up here but Johnson is controlling him well. Johnson is looking for a kimura here.
Johnson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Shoota is looking to escape. Johnson is working for a kimura but Shoota is defending it quite comfortably.
Johnson looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shoota is looking to get back to is feet but Johnson passes into side control.
Shoota bucks up and tries to throw Johnson off but instead Johnson has got his back! Shoota is trying to stand back up. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Johnson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shoota defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Shoota controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shoota trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Johnson has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Shoota! Can he survive? No! He's out! Johnson gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
