Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Higgins (ranked 4052 p4p, 24985 weight class) and Mad Munchies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Higgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mad Munchies!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Higgins clinches up with Munchies and pushes him back against the cage.

Higgins manages to break the clinch.

Munchies looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Higgins manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Higgins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Munchies gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Higgins pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Higgins wants to clinch up but Munchies keeps it at a distance.

Higgins shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Munchies napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Munchies sneaks out the side door and pushes Higgins away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Munchies avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Munchies shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Munchies was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Higgins throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Higgins has clasped his hands together around Munchies's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Munchies tries to bench press Higgins off him but Higgins keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Higgins tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Munchies gets back to half guard.
Nice strikes from Higgins there.

Higgins looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Higgins not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Higgins trying to mount his opponent but Munchies defends it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Higgins is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Munchies defends it well.
Higgins working over Munchies with some ground and pound. Munchies looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Higgins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Higgins connects with a nice short shot to Munchies's temple.
Higgins content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Higgins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Munchies on the ground.
Higgins landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Higgins with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Higgins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Munchies for as long as he can get away with.
Higgins wants to pass the guard but Munchies is defending well.

Higgins is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Munchies doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Higgins.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Higgins lands a nice short elbow.
Higgins takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Higgins drives through with a takedown into Munchies's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Munchies tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Higgins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Higgins sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Munchies is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Higgins seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Munchies has momentary wrist control but Higgins slips an elbow through the middle.
Higgins is looking to work some ground and pound but Munchies has wrist control.

Higgins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Munchies has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Higgins has managed to get both his arms back between Munchies's legs - danger averted.
Munchies is pulling down on Higgins's head. It's preventing any offense from Higgins, at least for the moment.
Higgins trying to control the position from guard on top but Munchies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Higgins working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Higgins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Higgins cracks Munchies with a solid left hand.

Munchies is rocked!
Higgins passes Munchies's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Munchies is still in real trouble! Can Higgins finish him?

Munchies is breathing heavily.
Munchies is looking for a sweep. Higgins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Munchies is not content to let Higgins control the position.

Higgins decides to stand up.

Higgins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Munchies did well to prevent Higgins getting side control.
Munchies seems to have recovered his senses.

Higgins escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Munchies tries to sprawl but Higgins drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Higgins is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Munchies is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Don Higgins!
