PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steel Striker (ranked 3509 p4p, 4502 weight class) and Brad Foster (ranked 465 p4p, 529 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steel Striker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Foster!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Striker swivels and escapes.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Foster has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Foster.
Striker thuds a left hand into Foster's body.
Striker lands with a slapping head kick.
Striker falls off balance throwing a combination
and Foster counters with a one-two to the body.
Striker lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Striker goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Striker lands with a kick to the temple. Foster shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Striker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Striker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Foster.
Steel Striker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Foster.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Striker lands a nice leg kick that just misses Foster's sensitive parts.
Some wild striking there from Striker.
Striker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Foster circles away quickly and effectively.
Foster now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Foster fails with a takedown attempt.
Striker lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Good leg kick by Striker.
Foster drops his hands momentarily and Striker takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Foster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Striker tries to avoid it but Foster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Striker to the ground. Striker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Foster tries for a takedown but Striker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Striker tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Foster was well out of range. Poor timing from Striker.
Striker throws a jab when Foster was well out of range.
Striker scoring well with a low kick there.

Foster closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Striker quickly recovers to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Foster looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Striker tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Foster manages to move to mount!

Foster throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Foster wants to finish this one by submission but Striker is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Foster.
Foster wants to control the pace but Striker is squirming around nicely.

Foster is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Striker to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Striker shrugs it off.
Striker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Striker tries to get out of the position.
Foster connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Foster wants to control the pace but Striker is squirming around nicely.
The referee warns Striker that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brad Foster will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Foster avoids the head kick by Striker.
Striker is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Foster.
Striker throws a head kick that misses.
Foster shoots for a takedown but Striker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Striker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Striker throws out a loose jab but Foster uses good head movement to avoid it.
Striker throws a shot from downtown. Foster moves away and avoids it.
Striker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Foster tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Steel Striker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Striker rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Foster moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Striker is looking to slow Foster down with leg kicks.
Striker throws a head kick that misses.
Striker misses with a wild body shot.
Striker circles away from the clinch attempt.

Foster shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Striker but Striker pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Striker is looking for a counter combo.
Steel Striker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Foster keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Foster drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Foster postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Foster trying to control the position from guard on top but Striker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Foster drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Foster as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Striker screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Foster! Nice submission victory there!
